Team loses in the B final in their first tournament action.

It was a tough road trip for the Ped’s Threads Bombers who traveled to Swan River for their first tournament action of the season.

Their first game was against the Dauphin Kings on Friday night and after a parade to the penalty box, the Kings were able to capitalize on the power plays and defeat the team 9-1.  Magnus Pearson picked up the long goal for the Bombers, unassisted, and Rogan Bacon stopped 20 of 29 shots fired his way, most of them with a man or two down.

Saturday morning the Bombers played the Host Stampeders and after staying out of the penalty box, four different goal scorers hit the sheet for the Bombers and they were able to get their first win 5-2.

Pearson led the way with two more goals while Joey Lies, Nolan Rideout and Ryker Watt also scored for Flin Flon.  Tye Burke and Shayden Linklater each picked up two helpers in the win with Rideout, (1g, 2a), Watt (1g, 2a) and Pearson (2g, 1a) each picking up three points.

Flin Flon had one more game Saturday with playoff implications and after being down 7-2 to start the third period, they were able to claw back and score 6 in the final frame to make a game of it, but it was too little too late as their rivals down the highway The Pas Huskies, beat them 10-7.

Pearson continued to lead the team offensively scoring five times and adding an assist with Watt picking up the other two goals.

This was the third time Flin Flon and The Pas have faced each other in this early season, with the Huskies taking all three so far.  The Bombers will be looking for their first win when they take them on this Sunday at the Whitney Forum.

With the 1-2 record Flin Flon found themselves in the B side final against the host Swan Valley Stampeders.

It was a different story this time around as the Stamps scored twice in the first, one more in the second and five times in the third enroute to an 8-4 win against Flin Flon.

Once again the Bombers were down to start the third period and once again they showed some life, but once again it was a little too late.

Pearson scored another two goals in the loss with singles coming to Watt and Lies.  Lies also picked up an assist with other helpers coming from Watt (3a), Rideout (2a), Pearson and Connor Slugoski.

After the game against the Huskies this Sunday, 3:30 at the Whitney Forum, the Ped’s Threads Bombers will travel to Yorkton for the Yorkton McDonalds Atom Tournament, November 28, 29 and 30.
